Parish of Manuka South Canberra

Giving and Donations

Give to support the work of St Paul's Anglican Church

Ways you can give

Contrary to what some people think, our Parish does not receive any external funding (neither Diocese nor government) to support its operations or the maintenance of its buildings. We rely entirely on the support of our parishioners and other donors.

In recent years our Parish has embraced a vision for sustained growth and new ministries which has begun to bear fruit. These activities, in conjunction with our Building for Our Future project, present us with the challenge of increasing our overall financial capacity.

We encourage all parishioners to support the ministry of the parish with an awareness of the Biblical principles of stewardship that is generous, proportionate and sacrificial.

We also welcome donations from people who are not parishioners but support the objectives and activities of our Parish.

The facilities below can be used for one off and regular giving to the Parish and for tax deductible contributions to the Parish of Manuka Arts Foundation.

You can make a lasting contribution to the work of the gospel by leaving a bequest in your will.  Please read the following advice below about suggested wording for your Bequest.

Advice: The following wording could be used if you wish to make a bequest to St Paul’s Manuka in your will. Of course, we encourage you to consult a solicitor for advice, as needed.

Suggested Wording:

  • Bequests for the general purposes of St Paul’s: The following wording could be included in a will for the purposes of making a testamentary gift for the general purposes of a particular Anglican Church – “To St Paul’s Manuka, Canberra to be applied for such purposes of St Paul’s Manuka as may be determined from time to time by a majority of the church. The receipt by any two (2) of the church’s members shall be a sufficient discharge for my executors.
  • Notes regarding more specific situations:
  • 1. A gift may be made for a more specific purpose – for example, a testator may wish that a gift be made for the purposes of building repairs, maintenance, improvement or replacement. In such a case, the gift could be expressed as follows – “To the church of St Paul’s Manuka to be applied for such purposes of repairing, maintaining, improving, and/or adapting the church’s buildings and grounds in the manner determined from time to time by a majority of the church’s leadership. The receipt by any two (2) of the church’s members shall be a sufficient discharge for my executors.”
  • 2. Where the proposed gift is real estate or an amount of $100,000 or more, consideration should be given to making the gift to the Anglican Church Property Trust Diocese of Canberra-Goulburn – the corporate trustee of the Anglican Church Diocese of Canberra-Goulburn – to be held in trust for the purposes of the church. The Anglican Church Property Trust Diocese of Canberra-Goulburn, as corporate trustee, has wider investment powers than the church and this may be of particularly relevance where it is intended that a gift be used to create a fund for investment. The wording of such a gift could be as follows – “To the Anglican Church Property Trust Diocese of Canberra-Goulburn to be applied for such purposes of St Paul’s Manuka as may be determined from time to time by a majority of the church. The receipt by the Secretary of the Anglican Church Property Trust Diocese of Canberra-Goulburn will be sufficient discharge for my executors.”
  • Where a large special purpose gift is intended, the wording of Notes 1 and 2 may be combined, so that the specific purpose is made clear to the Anglican Church Property Trust.
