St Paul’s Walking Group is an enthusiastic group of people who regularly do walks together. Walks may be anywhere in and around Canberra and environs (e.g., locations such as Tidbinbilla); some are urban walks, others bush or a combination of both. Occasionally there are walks in neighbouring regions of NSW. They are usually between 5 and 10km, but occasionally longer.
Generally walks commence in late February and conclude in mid to late November. Most walks are on Saturday mornings and occur at two to three week intervals. The walks are an invitation for Parishioners and friends to go for a walk.
At present (2022) there are three walk co-ordinators: John Holthouse, Tony Butterfield and Keith Skamp. They oversee the organisation of walks. Information about upcoming walks is distributed by email in the weeks preceding the walk. Guidance is provided about the walk (e.g., location, distance, types of track, difficulty, safety etc.). Virtually all walks are easy to moderate and take about 2 to 3 hours, usually with a rest stop. At the end of most walks those who can stay usually gather at a nearby coffee shop, or similar.
Contact Keith Skamp if you wish to be added to the email list or seek further information about the walks: contact details are keith.skamp@scu.edu.au and 0419122503.
All are welcome to join the Group and the walks.
