Holy Week

As part of our Holy Week observances, Igitur Nos Chamber Choir, directed by Matthew Stuckings, will sing the ancient monastic office of Tenebrae at St Paul’s on Holy Tuesday, 16th April, at 8pm (ie. after the evening Eucharist for that day).

The music includes the Lamentations of Jeremiah as set by Thomas Tallis, and the Tenebrae Responsories by Tomas Luis de Victoria.

‘Tenebrae’ is Latin for ‘shadows’, this very moving and contemplative service of readings and music is sung in near darkness, with candles extinguished one by one as the service proceeds.
