The well-known German theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, was executed on the 9th April 1945. This year is the 50th anniversary of his death. To commemorate this, Wesley is offering an evening where leading Bonhoeffer scholars will talk on the lasting contribution of his theology for both church and society. This will be interspersed with selected readings from his writings. Prof Stephen Pickard (Director of the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture) will offer a reflection on the relationship between the church, Christ and the world in Bonhoeffer’s life and thought, and Prof John Moses (retired historian from the University of Queensland) will talk about Bonhoeffer as both a theological and political revolutionary.
